Lightbulb Help against 4-1-3N-2 (CL Quarters)

    Hi Managers,

I've just lost to an opponent in CL quarters 3-1 home.
Quality wise I'm 74.1, whilst he is 69.8
His Formation was 4-1-3N-2, and I countered with 4-3N-2W-1.

Usually I would fight that formation with 4-1-2-1-2ND, but somehow reading through the forums, I decided on 4-3N-2W-1.

Things started out quite bad, my MC caught a RED on the 4th minute! So I quickly switch my formation to 4-1-2N-1-1 (10 men) to cover some defence. Few minutes later it was 1-0, I set my team to hard attk full pitch, and caught up 1-1. After half time, i switch to 4-1-2N-2, and he fired in 2 more goals.

Really hope to win this cup league. Any advice to counter 4-1-3N-2 Effectively?
P/s: I have 2 MCs out for RED (one caught a second yellow card), leaving me with just 1 MC left. I'll be sourcing for another MC in market, but max formation I can do is with 2 MCs, can't do 3MC, unless one of them OOP.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

Normally 4 3 2 1 does the trick with correct settings. Unfortunately you got the red card and 10 men squad worked against u.

    If not 4 3 2 1 then I will suggest you should play with 4 2 2 2 (Hexagon).

Keeping in mind that you need to score lot of goals to overcome your opponent; I will recommend attack minded settings.

Red arrows on DL, DR, AML and AMR

    Orders:
    Team Mentality: Attacking
    Focus Passing: Down both flanks
    Pressing style: Whole pitch
    Tackling: Hard
    Passing: Mixed
Zonal with no counter attack and yes to offside trap

    Best of luck!

4-4-2 C or hexagon is better choice to counter 4-1-3n-2 for me...

Thanks guys! I went with 3N-5-2V before the last 2 replies, and scored a last minute goal to make it 1-0.
    Lost on aggregates 2-3.

I see 4-2-2-2 Hex had been suggested twice, didn't really thought about Hex as the 4-1-3N-2 is quite close to 4-3N-3 which is Hex's counter formation. Might try that out in the future, as well as 4-4-2 and 4-1-4-1.
