I too need help. 4-4-1-1 formation, what to do?

So yeah. I need to win this match and I really don't know what orders I should use. Also not sure about my formation.

Here is how the first match went. Clearly, didn't have the right stuff, since he had way more shots and was much more efficient.

I think I was going with basic stuff, like normal mentality and mixed focus passing. Tried defensive CA, but it didn't work any better.
I have no win bonus, I feel like it doesn't change much but I might be wrong.

this is a copy/paste from another thread- check this out

My rules of thumb when setting up for a match are:
-Always have at least 1 more defender than the oppo has strikers (if he only has 1ST you can get away with 3W or 3N and put red arrows on either the wingbacks or the DMC if you're using one)
-Always play a DMC if the oppo has an AMC
-Don't play an AMC (or possibly play 2 of them) if the oppo has a DMC
-Use long passing against a flat formation, mixed otherwise. If you're getting 80% possession due to an opponent's illegal/out of position formation it's worth playing long ball - I have a theory that often the "bonus" possession gets wasted playing tika-taka in midfield otherwise, and if you can give your strikers the ball a lot they'll get through eventually
-A DMC is really useful against 3MCs, as otherwise every now and then one breaks forward and gets a shot off from the AMC zone
-Only use down-both-flanks passing if you are fielding more wingers than the oppo. Use through-the-middle with narrow diamond (and I guess 4-3-3 - I only have 3 strikers in my squad so have never tried it).

some of these are very useful and I use them a lot.
so, according to this, that would help is an AMC and playing with 3D W.
As I can see, you have only one AMC, low Q. Maybe if you find it good suggestion, try to find someone better (maybe some free agent 30-31 y.o.) or give a try to yours.
His DMC (if he uses any) has also low Q but he has 2 good DCs.

I suggest to give at least the 1st lv, the cheaper (I don't know if more makes a difference) .

it makes a difference when the teams are close. I bring it up because his team had excellent shot efficiency and that might be a reason of a win bonus. Besides Cup is hard to win so why not put win bonus to max, winning a round in the cup gets you more money then you lose with the win bonus

I would try 3W-1-4-1-1 def. in the beginning, mixed, long pass, counter

I'd try a 3w-1-4-2 or 3w-5-2V since your flanks midfielders are better than your central midfielders.

Attacking, down the flanks, whole pitch, short passing, zonal, no counter, offsides. Red arrows on DL, DR, ML/AML and MR/AMR. Blue arrows on MC's!!!

Max win bonus, superb morale, max conditioning...

If those are working, maybe a 3w-2n-3w-2, 3w-4-1-2 or 3w-4-3! I'm not a huge fan of going with 2 MC's against 2 MC's and an AMC, but since you'll probably need to win this game by 3 goals, selling out and going for an all-out attack might be necessary.

I think the attacking, whole pitch pressing is a must because of your opponents 4 away goals.
