Anyone found a good counter-tactic for this?
I struggle against ~20% weaker teams.

I also tried to counter it with same formation, attacking-mixed-short-off, low-normal-zonal-off

But 5 tries ended: 2 wins (vs much weaker team), 2 loses (vs 1 equal, 1 slightly stronger), 1 draw (vs equal).

    Any ideas?

4-2MC-3W-1ST is my favorite formation. defensive style and counter attack from both flanks.
the key is fast runner in both flanks (AMR, AML, DL, DR arrow up)

depend on situation, i can change it into 4-2MC-2W-2 or 4-2MC-1-3

to encounter this, you should have good defensive set (2DC, DL, DR and DMC) or (3DC, DML and DMR). good luck!

IF you're close to even , or stronger, I usually go 3w-5-2 v style, or even 3w-1-2-3w-1. Always works for me when I'm close to even or stronger. If significantly weaker, then what most people said on page one will do.

4-1-4-1 is working with 4-2-3-1. I had a game last week with this formation and he lost 3-1. I us normal mentality, both sides attack, long passing, counter on, own half, hard tackling, Marking zonal, offside of. No arrows.

    Season 93 & 95 (current season) CL final I played against 4-2-3-1; use 4-1-4-1
Normal, mix, mix, low, normal, zonal, no c/a n offside; won the match.

Ps: I don't play c/a since I found it's broken, funny part is my setting is no c/a but still my team do counter attack when get chances.

    I use 3n-1-4-1-1 in following manner;

    --------------------ST------------------
    -----------AMC(up arrow)-----------
    ML(Down)--MC--MC--MR(Down)
    -----------DMC(Down)---------------
    -----------DC--DC--DC--------------

Attacking - Through the middle - short - off
High - Normal - Zonal if you think your MR/ML can back track and control his/her AM (else MTM) - off

This has worked for me. My motivated AMC occupies his/her DMC. MR/ML with down arrow play their roles but priority is given to tracking back and control AM. Above all you'll have 6 mid fielders that'll kill the opponent with possession.

I use 3 wide - 1 (dmc) - 4 - 2 (st). Strictly attacking, center, long passes, no c/a, high pressure, normal, zone, no offsides.

Work all the time. Even against very strong opponents
