This happens a lot, at first I thought it was my Wifi, so I disabled it to use just my 3G, but still happens, so I think it's a bug but I could be wrong... Anyone else get this?

I always have had better luck with wifi, the games needs the best connection. Also make sure there isn't other apps running that use data & take up memory, and not going through proxy.
You might also try clearing your cache:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select Applications
3. Tap on Manage Application
4. Choose Top Eleven application to Force stop and Clear cache
5. Relaunch the game
You could also uninstall & reinstall the app sometimes that fixes issues.
