reasons people bid at the last second (sniping) :
1. to see how many people bidding on the players and calculate chances and decide to bid at the last second
2. try to win by not using token in last round (trying to bid efficiently)
3. to fool people by making them think that they will win the round but whoops.. you know what happens next
4. some newbies who just follow the trend
