I played one game in the challenge. 5 hours later when trying to play my next game, the game tells me that i cannot because I have another game starting soon. My next game is 9 hours from now.

It's normal. We can't launch event matches before and after maintenance/matches. From my experience, there seems to be a 1 hour no play period. Might be shorter or longer sometimes. Not too sure.
