Need advice on beating 4-2dmc-1-2amc-1

Played this guy at home using a motivated 4-1-4-1. Immediately went down 2 goals and switched to 3w-2dmc-3w-2 & then even 3w-2dmc-1-2w-2. Lost 0-2. I had 60% possession & 16 shots to his 14. Fairly equal quality between us. My gut told me to NOT play attacking mentality although I did anyway. I think that hurt me in the end
Does anyone have any experience facing this formation? I need some help on this one. Thanks for the help.

i have experience with this formation i won 2-0 playing with 4-5-1 V style , red arrows on AML-AMR .. blue one on DMC ...

also tested 3N-5-2 i lost 1-0 ...

Seems now he's changed it up a bit. Now its 3w-1-3n-2amc-1

no play attacking mentality ...

oh ok .. his formation is attacking from middle .. for me play with 4-5-1V style

attacking form flanks , zonal , mixed passing , counter attacks , normal tackling ...

put blue arrow on DMC and red for both AML-AMR ..
