4-5-1V vs 4-1-2-1-2

I'm on my 4th season now, and this season starts with a bad game. My average players quality is at 35.5, whilst the opponent 22.9. He's using 4-1-2-1-2, while I countered with a 4-5-1V (which has work countering that formation for the past 3 seasons). All my players have superb moral and 99% Condition.

Somehow I just cannot fathom how I could loose to this player 12.6 quality below me by 1:3 with a working counter formation. Is it me or the game does have really random results at times?

You could stop countering weaker teams, if their formations do not counter yours.
It looks like you've had it easy untill this level, i did not, so trust me, on the above.

And for future reference, the counter that i find is working right now against ND is 4-1-3W-2.

This game is from CL, last night.
It was "ment" for me to lose (by the ****ty software), but i won.
Whay do i say that? All my good players got ****ty grades.
Almost the same players that won today 5-1 (away), in the cup, against a level 6 squad, with a bit better quality.
