Counter Formations?

Hi, i am a bit new to Top Eleven, but i just want to know, do you need counter formations to win or can you just play a whole season with one formation? I am still in my first season, i am in 5th place right now, i could have been on second if i won today, but i lost xD Can get to third if i win tomorrow. But i dont really know if i should try to use a counter formation against my opponent or just a normal formation.
What about managers in higher levels? What do they do? :)

Pick one formation and stick to it, i sugest cuz your new and that to use a solid 4-4-2. Cheers and good luck
