Right, mixed opinions now.
So Skidz, you're of the opinion that the 4-5-1v suggested above with the recommended orders might not be as effective?
I have enough strong defenders to put 4 (or even 5) on, one DMC, one strong ML and one relatively strong ML/AML, two strong MCs, one strong MR and one strong MR/AMR and two average STs.
In my limited knowledge, it's a clever tactic he's got there, as he's got nearly everything thrown into attack, but with enough defenders to cover himself too.
So what's the verdict?

I'm addicted to the Maple Leaf Formation. Perhaps it can help you beat that team...

You got strong wingers. So,playing V-style would be helpful.
I like to use my best players and use a formation where my team can play the best...

Its up to you at the end of the day but if it was me I would play 4-1-3w-2 or 3-1-4-2!. as you dont have another striker 4-3-3 is out!.

Well I really appreciate the tips from everyone; I'm playing him on Wednesday so I'll report back with the outcome.
He actually suffered a defeat recently to a slightly weaker team that I beat very comfortably previously. Here's the formation:

Is this formation worth a shot?
Either way cheers for the suggestions, and I'll certainly take one on board.

Alas, I lost, 0-2. It was pretty close though, he got one in relatively early on, and then one in at the end.
I went with the 4-5-1v as suggested, and also because it's one I know my players are accustomed to and play well at.

Oh well, can't win them all! Thanks to everyone for their input, much appreciated.
