Best Counter Formation For 4-3-3

What is the best formation to use against a 4-3-3 I have an important match tomorrow that I need to win. Right now my team can only run 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 4-3-3, and 4-5-1. Don't have many DMC's or AMC's. My team quality is also better.

I need help with team mentality, focus passing, pressing style, tackling style, passing style, and marking style, force counter attacks, and if I should play offside trap. Just from what I've learned from playing this is what I am going with.

PS My best player is my ST.

Right now I think I am going to use 4-5-1.

Team Mentality: Normal
Focus Passing: Down Both Flanks
Pressing Style: Own Half
Tackling Style: Normal
Passing Style: Mixed
Marking Style: Zonal

Force Counterattacks: No
Play Offside Trap: No

Red aarows on ML and MR thats it.

My reasoning is the 4-3-3 lacks wing players so I am going to take advantage of that with one of my best players (ML) and attacks the flanks.


Is that all alright or would you guys change anything?

I normaly do well using 4141, you dont need a player with DMC role, play in that position a DC If you whant to be more defensive, that way you can put a red arrows on DL/R without being unprotected in the back. The DMC Will balance your team in the midle.


I sometime also use 43N2W1 that way You put more presson on His defenders If you have good wingers.

I'm playing this way and it works very well! Didn't lost any game yet and it looks like im going to win the League, Cup and CL :cool:

This formation will counter 4-3-3! For me it works

I used what I originally posted and won the game. 2-1.

What orders would you use with 4-1-4-1? I am playing against 4-3W-3, is 4-1-4-1 still an effective formation? My team is better quality should I just run a 4-3W-3 as well and just fight fire with fire?

If it's 3W focus passing through the middle. 4-1-4-1 should work fine. I'd go attacking mentality, mixed passing length, through the middle, zonal marking, own half pressing, normal or hard tackling - maybe start normal but change to hard if you don't get enough possession? No counter, no offside.

Why wouldn't you just square up with them and play a 4-3W-3 and fight fire with fire? Just curious.

Where would you put arrows? And you mean DL,DC,DC,DR,ML,MC,MC,MR,ST?
