I have a rival who plays this all the time. I can't beat him and it makes me angry! lol
Anyway, thinking either an attacking mentality using a 4-1-4-1 or defensive mentality using a 4-4-1-1. Really depends on your players for this one I think.
I do know that a 4-5V-1 does not work! (DMC,MC-MC,AML-AMR)
I do know that a 4-4D-2 does not work! (DMC,ML-MR,AMC)
My best result was 0-0 draw using a 4-4-1-1, but that was my first match against him. -.-
Or perhaps a 4-2-2-2 using DMC-DMC, AML-AMR? I don't know! Good luck :P
4-5-1 v style, or maybe even 4-1-2-1-2 narrow diamond, sometimes its all in the orders
lol
Thanks....I understand, kind of different formation that's for sure ;-/
I like the 4-4-1-1 its does let me use the all my * players, which isn't that important but does let me field the strongest players in a good formation.
4-1-4-1 is good too, lets me use my *DMC/DC in the *DMC position, I believe my Team performs better when he is in that position, but I lose my *AMC
and I think *AMC might be beneficial using 4-4-1-1 against this different formation.
decisions...decisions.....
I would say go if you have strong personnel for narrow diamond that is probably your best bet then. through the middle, red arrow on AMC
I love 4-5-1 v style and I use it quite frequently. I would say if you use full pitch pressing you will force them to have to try long passing from the backline up. I would suggest using this or narrow diamond
Kinda thinking a down-the-gut approach would work with two strikers. Formation depends where you want the "wings": 4-1-3N-2, 3-2W-3-2, 3-5-2, 3-3N-2W-2.
Maybe even a little crazy?

narrow diamond, with MCs instead of ML and MR
Well, gave good shot but lost. :o)
2-4
Started with the V... Could punch one in though so
Moved to 4-4-1-1 but too late.
He scored all in first half, I changed and kept him out if goal
remainder of game. Got me 2 scores all in 2nd half :-/
It's ok, felt like we gave him all we had.
Thanks everyone for suggestions
Shark....
tough loss. hope next year goes better for you!
I finally had a convincing win against this formation. I used my standard 4-1-2-1-2 (DMC-ML-MR-AMC). However, my average rating is higher (19.2 vs 17.9), but on the same token, I was without my best player (Miloslav Merrick, a 28 MC).

I'm also curious why there wasn't a man of the match (sorry for going off topic, lol).
I'm finding the 3N-5V-2 works pretty well against this variation of the 4-2-3-1 :)
