how to beat 4-1-3-1 wide 3

I played a 4-1-3-1 wide 3 who is my friend and lost 3-2 at home in CL. A lot of pride is on the line so i dont want to lose next game. I played a butterfly formation which from my research shudve gave me the advantage against his team but i ended up losing.

DML(UP)-DMR(UP) (If using DL/DR as DML/DMR, remove the red arrows)
MC-MC
AML-AMR (Red arrows if AML/AMR also play as strikers and you want some extra punch)

Short passing, through the flanks, attacking mentality, zonal marking, pressing whole pitch with offside trap


my team is 24.9* while his is only 21.9* yet i lost. Any recommendations with what i should do now?.

Hack his account and see his orders! Just kidding, I would say use a 4-3n-2w-1 with a blue arrow on your center MC, red arrows on AML and AMR, passing mixed or down both flanks

what about team mentality, pressing style, and force counterattacks or offside trap?
