You are likely to get differing answers, as there are many formations that are successful.
It is not just formation that helps determine outcomes, but your orders & players' skills too, and also the opponents formation, orders & players' skills.

after 2 days reading this tread, i came to conclusion - no one knows **** here. some give advices - people do as they were advised and still loose, some pretend to know how to counter other tactics, but they cant even explain why they say that ****. i think this whole thread is useless. just try and try again, until you get your perfect team or strategy.

One of the reasons I still like this game is because there are a huge amount of ways to play and have fun and do well.

I play generally defensive, but have a handful of formations I like and change orders a lot. Others keep one formation and orders and do well with it, though as you level up it gets harder with more active experienced players, who might have an answer for your "magic" formation.

I couldn't beat 4 4 2 for most of my first 10 seasons. Now I have a formation my Team can play against it -- but that is the only time I ever play it.

Assess your players strengths and build your formation to use them while still keeping enough defense. Have fun!!! :D

but if you think nobody has a clue what they are doing on here then why spend your time here?

i made that conclusion, AFTER spending 2 days of reading posts and advices here. you dont believe me? read 10 post below, see what people say. ask someone to explain why they recommend this or that tactic.

This game has soo many variations into it, that there is multiple solutions to one issue, formation, counter, etc. Also some people don't get on the forum everyday, so it will be difficult for them to answer your question immediately. I have learned a lot from my time on this forum
