Which is the best counter formation against 4-4-2? Thnks...
Had a Home match earlier today against a 4-4-2 Classic, used 4-4-1-1 to counter and won 3:1, similar quality team.
Attack Mentality, Through middle (cos he's gonna go through flanks), Own Half, Hard Tackle, Mixed Pass, Zonal. No Offside, No Counter.
If match is AWAY, I would use Normal/ Defensive mentality.
ok, thanks... i asked because i had a match in the championship with a better team (possibly my counter-candidate to winning the title this season). the match was disputed away and i didn't know which formation to use to counter his 4-4-2. initially, i started the match with an 4-1(DMC)-3(MC)-2, but at half time i changed into a 4-2mc-2aml/amr-2. the match ended 0-0. i guess i won a point, not lose 3, and hope i will take revenge home :)
All the best then! Do give 4-4-1-1 a try if you have the players for the formation.

I played 4-4-2 classic, I used 3-4-2 Hard Attacking, mix passing, own half, Tackle Normal, No Force Counter or Office Trap and won 5-1
