    Angry 4-5-1 V-style ineffective against 4-4-2?

    I used the recommended 4-5-1 V in a league match today against a lower quality (32-26) 4-4-2 flat. After scoring in the 1st minute I was thinking I would dominate, but suddenly he scored in the 9th and 11th minute to go up 2:1. I tied it at 2, but ended up losing 3:2 for the final score.
    Here's what irks me...

    Possession -> 67%
    Shots -> 28-13
    Passes complete -> 87% - 79%
    Corners 12-5

    All stats were won by me except the one that matters, the score. Two questions...First, HOW???!! Second Question; Is the 4-5-1 V no longer effective against the 4-4-2? I had a match at the end of the last season that I had to fight to get a 2:1 win, again with a much higher quality team. Also, how should I use my motivation arrows in the future?

    Thoughts?

    In fact, 4-3n-2w-1 do it better. 4-5-1v have AML - AMR - (1) ST against 4 defenders, 4-4-2 have ML - MR - (2) ST against 4 defenders and 1 DMC . You see, 4-5-1v are not much stronger. And the second, what's about your orders and arrows?

    If you are kinda equal in strength. Play 4 - 2N - 1 - 3

    Or Stronger Play 4 - 4 - 2 and use Man to man.

    If weaker play - 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 - Use Zonal

    Whenever I play 4 - 4 - 2 / I set to Normal attacking and the two inner MC's to defending. and short passing.

    4-2N-1-3? Interesting. I have heard the similar with the narrow diamond. It's tricky though because it leaves the entire flank exposed to the DL/DR and ML/MR. I may try that.

    There is no "effective" formation vs a 4-4-2
    4-5-1 V, 4-4-2 ND, 4-3-3 can work, but depending from the players and the "bad" or "good" day

    Sorry Scratch that 4 - 2N - 1 - 3.. I use a spreadsheet and was looking at another formation. Sorry again.. my bad.

    There is an effective formation I have used 4 - 1 - 3N - 2 in Championship league twice and won and tied. My team was slightly stronger and won at Home with a 13% advantage (3 - 0) and tied away with a -5% (2 - 2).

    Mind you I do play with four players with special abilities. Two for corner kicks (a Lefty and a Righty) and two Free kick specialists (A lefty and a righty).

    I've seen suggestions for the Narrow Diamond, but what about a wide diamond? Or does that leave the center open?
