Any formation will do just fine... It's 4-4-2 formation, btw...

why is a 4-4-2 not showing up? Is it just a glitch in the system somewhere?
Probably because some players left the club and the user did not assigned players to the freed positions.Quote:

The team probably contains unsigned players. When players are unsigned they stay in the same positions in the squad list but are inelligible to play so don't appear in the preview.
They will be replaced when the match starts.
As Tactician says its probably a 442.
The only way you can check for sure what the formation is if you check his previous fixture.
PS. It would be better if the Engine sorted the Squad list at the start of the day rather than waiting for the Prematch simulation period. No idea why they chose to do it like this unless they know something.....

This is what causes it.
Here is my alt team with unsigned players as viewed by me when logged into it. All retain their places in the squad list even though they are ineligible to play.

Therefore, being ineligible they don't show in the preview, as viewed by the opponent/someone else.
