How to counter 4-5-1?

3N at back .. lost at home in cup facing a team 2 points lower than me AVG wise , after drawing 2-2 away
my mate who watched this game is my biggest rival in league, unsurprisingly today tried to use the same formation 4-5-1 after watching me losing at home yesterday
what i did is i used 4-1-4-1 .. beat him away 3-0 with ease
so my guess a motivated 4-1-4-1 work better than 352 .. i need to own the mid not only to control the mid but stop them attacking me .. that was where 3-5-2 flopped yesterday.. may be it will work against a team who are far worst or when playing abandoned teams but that means little tbh if you face someone who watch the match..

Screenshots would be much more helpful, but I'm glad you've found an alternative formation which works for you.

look at the difference .. both cup and league teams had almost same average
both players watch the match, but keep in your mind that my possession at home could be be better with 352, but i got 5% home advantage , so it is more 50-50 really without it , while away one you need to add 5% more bcz my mate was playing at home

Which orders did you use with 4 1 4 1 ? I have to face the same formation as you today, I really need to win. Arrows on DL and DR ?

Sorry for the bump, but I'll have 2 important games wich the opponents are using 4-5-1 flat and in the thread of "Table of Counter Formations - What to use?", says the best formation against is 3-5-2 Flat or 3-5-2 V-Style.
