had same situation after losing at home in CL to a team inferior to me last season
read the forum and some suggested 3N-2W-2-2W-1, problem i had no DML or DMR, so played my best quality fullback and winger, my LM as DML and RB as DMR.. beat him with style 1-3 away.. but again he was less good than me.. tried it facing another club, and win again 5-1
i suggest you play players in their position, but if not, is better to have them play in wrong position than playing wrong formation which is worst
now which one is best formation? 3N-2W-2-2W-1 ? not sure, as in both matches my teams was slightly the strongest side
