How to beat 4-2-1-3 ?
OK, so here is another incredible situation. Team has no manager, is two points weaker than myself but still I lost first cup leg in first round.
I tried 3-1-3-2-1 with immense posession but still conceding two goals before getting a red card, orders weren't set up to hard tackles, normal game with attacking through the flanks and offside trap set to on.

4-5-1 V Style , DMC BLUE , AML/AMR RED
Defensive , Flanks , high pressing , easy tackle , long passes , man-to-man , forcecounter attacks on , offside trap off .

5-3-2

I ve lost twice against his formation with my regular 442. I don't really understand as this 4213 feels quite unbalanced. Last match I even had 20% better team (70% vs 50%)...
I win ball possession but I can't create real chances with it. I don't have a dmc or amc, should I try with a 532 (dml-dc-dc-dc-dmr and ml-mc-mr)?? I can try a 541, but I fear I won't be able to score a he has got decent dc...
What orders should I use? It's a cup game and I need te win, but only the fools rush in :-)

3DC-1DMC-3MC-AML-AMR-ST
or
3DC-1DMC-2MC-AML-AMR-2ST
for more attack.
Defense/counter/long pass/ from the flanks
If you haven't DMC, use a DC out of position.
One or two arrows to your DC, red arrows to AML-R

Thx! I'll try that.
A red arrow means arrow down? Arrows on dc forward?
Defense zonal with off side? High pressing?
-
red arrows mean attack (forward).
zonal, low press, no off side

I drawed my match 2-2... A better result than first cup match, but still very disappointing seeing my 20% advantage in team strength.
I'm very doubtful about the quality of the match engine, but really I have no experience (still no full season played).

Formation and orders it's the first step
Having the right stuff it's the second
Being in the game and switching things if the game doesn't go as you want, it's the third.
Have the luck on your side it's the last :)

Well the basics didn't work that well, 0-2 loss against slightly weaker team and 3-0 loss against a better.
So far this tactic has not brought what I expected :-)
