How to beat 3w-5-2V

I had today my 1.leg CL semifinal, away, against an 20% weaker opponent and I thought, this would be not that hard. But I lost it 2:1, and my team was really bad...
First, I had a connection problem, so I could join at 55'. Checked stats and saw, that my team hadn't a single shot an his target, he had 6. So I turned off counter, put my DMC to AMC and took the lead at 64', shots raised up to 6:3, but suddenly, he scored 1:1, and at 88', he scored 2:1. Finally I stayed at the 3 SoT, he made 10.

All my players (without my ST) were better rated than his best... his best had 7,2, my worst was rated 7,3... - my wingers were rated 9,1 and 8,9, but ST only 6,2.

I played:
4-5-1V
defensive-down both flanks-mixed-on; low-normal-zonal-off

After our 3:1 victory at cup-semi, we are so close to the treble... and I didn't think, we struggle before CL-Final...

I played 4-5-1V, because a friend kicked him out of the cup. My friend was 12% weaker, won 3:1 and drewed 1:1, both with 4-5-1V...


Any ideas, how I can save the semi at homeleg?

Are you sure about oppo rates ? I mean are these the final rates (after the game) ?
For that rate of your ST, I would expect a very good rate of his DC (a round 8).
It seems they had many tackles.
Can you post the stats of the game ?

i would play with 2 striker formation upfront. 43mc12 through middle if you have a good mc. if defence need extra man pull 1 mc to dmc 41212. dont know if this help.

I love the 3w-5-2V and the similar formation 3w-1-2n-3w-1; I play both of them frequently.

4-4-2 and 4-2-2-2 hexagon are the best counters to the 3w-5-2V in my opinion.

Nik, you're right... not all of my players were better. DL rating was down to 7,1. The ST you see was changed to another ST, which is rated at form-section (at squadmenu) 6, so he was at the end 5,6-6,4...

And my Keeper rated only with 5,9, but this is quite unfair, because he saved the chance at homeleg.

Reading those stats :
Your GK indeed could have a better rate.
With 5 saves, he deserved an 8-9 but he got a -1 for the defeat and -2 for the conceded goals.
I would give him the position in the squad, in the 2nd leg.
Oppo DC could have a better rate as confronted with success your ST.
But it seems that oppo team didn't have some many tackles as your team (even if the shots were about the same).
And oppo GK also didn't have many saves.
So, your ST had a really bad day, shooting at the moon (as a comment of the game is saying).
So mainly he was the problem.
The question is , did he have a bad day or he is in a de-forme period ? (Is he got injured and fixed with reds ?).
Use him tomorrow to see how is he doing. If he 'll play well, it was a bad day.
If it's not a critical league game, use him as a F-K specialist to observe his efficiency .

The passing of both is impressive 88-92, but oppo more as his midfl players didn't get a very good rate.
Maybe you should avoid counters in 2nd leg.
Watch out your as.man comments about passing.

2-1 away gives you an advantage so I still start with 4-5-1V and later pass to 4-2-2-2 hex.

The ST you see with 6,6 is this nice guy. If you read that little story, you know, he performed last games really good. After CL, we had a league game, which we won 5:0. 2 goals and one assist by my ST.

That CL game was the first (and only) game, since his comeback, where he didn't score. I changed him at 70' and the new one didn't make it better...

And if I read the statistics, the only "problem" was, we didn't get the ball on the target. It was a curious game...

But... my opponent isn't that bad. He has no lose at CL, he is 2nd in League (2 times lost) and at cup he has one lost vs one of my friends (who kick him out). I send him a friendship request at the beginning of the K.O.-round, but he didn't accept. I think, he don't want, that I'm able to analyse his lose. :rolleyes:

Well nash, I have n doubt that your ST is great player but you know this period is really tough.
After 3 full weeks, our players carry a "hidden" fatigue" that can cause some bad performances.

But maybe you can analyze the games he had so far in your competition.

* also think about 4-1-4-1 if you have ML-AML & MR-AMR and later you can switch to 4-5-1V.

But my ST didn't played most of the games. He started his comeback at the end of week 3.

So, he change formation. I think, because his 7* MC playmaker has a red card. Now he uses 3w-2n-1-2w-2. His MC is really weak, just 5* (89%), so I think, I'll stay with 4-5-1V, maybe I set DMC to MC.

Played 4-5-1v agains 3w-5-2v. Defense, mixed passes.
Did not worked. Eventually oppo nailed my defense with 3 goals.
Although my stats and player ratings were not bad.

Worst rating by my DMC. I would select a tactic with no DMC.

In your situation, and after my 2 matches with this good oppo, I would try to take advantage of his weak defense and score more goals than him.
Risky, but I prefer losing the game with offensive football than sitting back and wait and at the end losing.

I think, my opponent doesn't know, how he will play against me. Everytime I take a look at his formation, he changed it (and he has no more game today, because he leaguegame was around 11am). :p

I know, that's the wrong thread, but I wanna tell you the result, because of your help:

Finally he started with a high defenisve formation: 4-2n-1-2w-1
I used: 3w-5-2V

I know, what you think... wtf? counter and offside on? yes, and it worked!!!

At halftime, we were leading 3:0, shots on target: 7:0. After halftime, he made a sub, changed formation to 4-1-1-2w-2. I went back to 4-5-1V, defensive. I missed, to turn off offside, so I conceeded one goal. At this time SoT were 7:3. After turning off offside, there was nothing more. Finally SoT were 10:3.

Maybe it helps someone.

Have you conceeded the goal indeed in oppo counter. Did he break you offside trap or it was another kind of goal.

I just question that because last month every time I play 4-5-1v def, offside off.. I always conceed a goal and I doupt if I will use it anymore for def formation.

At live game, it looks like, they break the offside trap. After turning off, they didn't make another SoT, so I think, we conceeded the goal, because of the offside trap.
I also was logged in with the account of my wife at old version to see the livestats, and there was something said about offside, but I really can't imagine, what it was. :/

Face two 3W teams in my Cup finals.

Not sure what to do, I have had mixed results with my standard line-ups against 3W teams..
