3w-2n-2w-1-2
Anyone an idea, how to beat this formation?
----ST-----ST-----
-------AMC-------
ML-------------MR
--DMC----DMC--
DL-----DC----DR
---------GK--------
A friend faced him at CL-Groupstage: First leg was home, he lost 0:1 4:8 (SoT), he used 4-5-1V (defensive-tbf-mixed-on).
2nd leg, away he lost 6:0 (SoT 13:4). At first half he use ND (attacking-ttm-short-off), he was down 2:0 (SoT: 5:0) he switched to 3n-5-1F (defensive-mixed-mixed-on).
My friend was slightly weaker (3%)
At the moment, I'm slightly better (4%).
I will face him at quaterfinals at CL. Are there any experience how to beat it?

3 1 4 2....normal, short, flanks ,counter off, high press, normal tackling, zonal marking, offside on has worked for me...beat a former friend with this.

Not bad but as my AML -AMR are the main fire-power and don't want to use ML-MR, I go for 4+1DMC in defense and then depending from quality.
Usually start with 4-5-1V and if I see that I had b.p. but it's difficult to score, I switch a MC with a second ST.
Most of the times, my AMR-AML have better quality than his DL-DR and find the way to the nets.
I 'm patient and go with defense/counter/flanks mix pass.
If loosing, switch to attack, high pressing, man to man, hard tackling but no of side.

Okay, I was wrong... I'll face him at Semi, and another manager who use this (maybe) at final. My opponent beat a slightly weaker (3%) manager, who used 4-4-2 ND: 3:0.
The other one (my final oppo?) beat a 10% weaker manager, who used 4-5-1V. 2:0
I watched both 2.leg quaterfinals. Both 3w-2n-2w-1-2 where much stronger at live games. Statistics also say, the were stronger, so I don't think, 4-4-2 ND will work.
Maybe my 4-5-1V will work, because I've really good wingers. My final oppo... I played last season against him at 1.round of cup. I won 4:2 at home, made 3:3 away (with 4-5-1V), but at final there is only one chance.
So I wanna have a plan B, if it doesn't work.

maybe a 4-1-3w-2 (for defensive play) or 4-1-2-1-2 wide diamond (attacking play) would work.
4 defenders to mark 2 ST's and his ML/MR. DMC to cover AMC, ML and MR to occupy his DL and DR, leaving his lone DC, against 2 ST.

looks like a kind of butterfly with lower positions.
i would try 4-5-1 V style

I've to say 4-5-1V isn't 4-5-1V.
As I said, my friend lost with it. I also saw, that the semifinals my (final) opponent has beaten another friend, which used 4-5-1V. He was slightly weaker than me. 4:0 and 4:1, at both games, my opponent was overall better.
Now at final, I started 4-5-1V. I won 3:0, my opponent had only 4 SoT, we had 10, we were overall better.
All 4 (incl. my final) games where exaclty the same: same tatics, full moral, max. win bonus.
1. friend was 3% weaker than the opponent
2. friend was 2% weaker
We were 3% stronger.
Can it be that only 6% made such a difference?
Or are my the individual skill of my players important?

Orders too in relationship with your opponent's orders.
