a good formation is 3w-2DMC-2MC-AML-AMR-ST but depends from the qualities.

i am playing a 451v and having problem playing against 442 for the past 2 season.
if you have a good dl/dr 442 can beat 451v as the formation depend mostly on aml/amr.
you have the advantage on your 4 line midfield plus 2 striker, play mixed attack. i myself play a 442 classic against 451v with success. it all depends on your player and know how to use them.

I think I'd play 4-2(DMC)-1-2(AMR AML)-1
Long balls through both flanks.
Sounds defensive but if you play with def/normal/attack mentality (depending on opponents strength) you will play safe and its hard for me to believe you'll lose.
