I don't think so Houzz, defensive tactics with ND never worked for me, but also I am not sure if it works for other managers. If you will go for ND, I suggest normal tactics and classic 4-4-2 or Hexagon could work against butterfly.

I often use butterfly, many many times. This is very good formation, i think it is the best ever formation in Top eleven. Butterfly can counter so many other formation like: 451v / 432w1 / 423w1 / 4132 / 352 flat / 3w52 flat / 414AM RLC 1 / 442 / 4222hex ...etc
Not many people use butterfly because the position DML and DMR, don't have so much like others.

Butter fly is very strong by flank, but weak at middle, that's why ND can beat it easy.

IMO counter formation is one part (30-40% win), and the other part is YOUR SETTING(60-70% win). These is many orders by many Managers
That why i can choose ND in defend / own half for him, because in this case, he is stronger than oppo.
