Advice on how to kill these two formations. 31312 and 442

These guys playing these formations have slightly better teams than mine. Any Advice on how to counter these formations :31312 With DL DL DR DMC ML MC MR AMC ST... Then we have a guy slightly better than me playing a 442 Formation dl dc dc dr ml mc mc mr st st. Any Information with regards to bringing these formations to shreds will be highly appreciated.

Against first need 3w:1:4:2 dmc down, half pitch press no offside, counter on ...mixt passes... play normal

Against the second you need okay through the middle, with 4:1:3:2 or 4:1:2:1:2 through the middle dc’s down dmc up arrow, mc/amc center up arrow

It Worked perfectly well. He then switched he's play to the wings so i dropped my wing-backs (DL DR). I'm now remaining with the 442 guy. What Should be my team's mentality when we are on the level and when he's slightly better. I mean 422 -two situations here.
