How to counter a 4-4-2 diamond ?

Hello
Yetserday I draw a match against opponent weaker than me (100% vs 80%) I played in the first half by 4-5-1 V normal...and him he plays by 44-2 diamond.... in the second half I played by 4-4-2 flat and the score has no changed

So plz wich formation can I use to beat him?

Go down flanks and then choose which flank more weaker to attack, mixed or long pass (never short pass he has crowded midfield)
