    The Evolution of footnall formations.

This is a great read and one I recommend to fully understand how the game has progressed.
When I first started watching football the game was played with.
Within the link you will find many of the graphics that were used by other posters in the old forum.
    ---------------------GK
    -----------------CB----CB
    ---------RWB------CH-------LWB
    RW------RIF-------CF-------LIF-------LW

In our current game format (T11)
    that would be:

    ----------------------GK
    -----------------DC------DC
    ----------DMR------DMC------DML
    MR--------------------------------------ML
    ----------AMC-----------------AMC
    ----------------------ST

Would love that formation to be allowed on here, the use of a few arrows would make that a tremendous formation.

    I would of thought this....

    ----ST--ST--ST----
    AML-----------AMR
    ----MC--MC--MC----
    --------------------
    ------DC--DC-------
    --------GK----------

    For The Old 2-3-5 Formation.

I look at the grid of formations... You cant have LS and/or RS... Could of done Herbert Chapman 3-3-4

    LS--ST--ST--RS
    ----------------
    --MC--MC--MC--
    ----------------
    --DC--DC--DC--
    -------GK------

LS and RS could of been the same for the 2-3-5 instead of the AML/AMR,

But the 3-3-4 sort of could be played as a Legal Formation in Top Eleven.
Could always use the arrows up on the AML/AMR.

    ----ST--ST----
    AML-------AMR-
    ---MC-MC-MC--
    ----------------
    ---DC-DC-DC---
    ------GK-------

Be interesting to see what sort of results the above formation produces in Top Eleven.

The topic is for general reading and understanding the evolution to today's formations.
Maybe if the younger managers understand this they will be able to understand how systems in the modern game evolved and why.
    Which does apply to T11.
