What was wrong (formation, tactics)

Hey,
i just finished my last CL game. I played 4-5-1V, he played 4-4-2 classic. Both matches was draw (0-0 , 1-1) I`m out of the league because of away goal rule. The problem is - i dont get what i just did wrong? My team is much better, during second half i played hard attacking, both flanks, short passing, whole pitch, man-to-man defence. I totally dominated on possesion (76-24), total shots (13-10) on target (2-5). All my players are better than his. So what it was? I was very unlucky both of the matches? Or maybe i just did something wrong with my tactics or formation? :) (btw i`m first in my league, he`s last in his. Morale and condition on my players was superb, AMR AML DMC motivated, DR DL motivated too (second half), max reward for the win).

Because 4-5-1 v isn't a counter for the 4-4-2.... Flanks exposed to potentially motivated ML/MR which might be what caused the problems.

Next time, play the 3-2-2-2-1 butterfly, that does the trick
