If they both have the same principal colour ie White they can't be used together.
Home and away kits are supposed to be different 'main' colours to allow a change when opposing team colours clash

This is the best one I can find in my teams but obviously his stats were propped up by his FK specialism, not pure defending. (Unfortunately I had to do a Take Over when that team...
