Well, actually yes you can. Through negotiations which are unlocked at level 4. But you need to be on the same server as your friend and the player in question needs to have a specific quality...

The qualities were actually pretty similar. But it was a neglected team with players out of position and I got the formation and tactics spot on, after the first half I decided to really go for it...

Not necessarily just the strikers, you had 3 MCs and 2 DMCs, very defensive formation. Not much in the way of attack.
