bid for 2-3 players with more than an hour to go or so,I thought with my one bid those players will be mine and left the game only to come back and realize I didn't sign anyone :P

You won't get any tokens if you sell through auctions,try selling the player through negotiations instead

Maybe he made some saves ? I had a few games before where the goalie with a rating of 7 was chosen as the man of the match because he made 1 or 2 saves.
