How do you know what arrows to put and on what players?

Hey, I have been playing this game for a while but I just can't understand how to use the arrows.

He played something that looks like 4-1-3-1-1 so i played 3-1-4-2 and won 2:0. Oh yeah!

Oh, I was waiting for someone to be smart. Other people understood my meaning.
Sometimes it's better not to comment anything (Especially when I didn't ask for a formation that can "beat all").

Iv'e got a second leg of a cup match today. I won first leg 3-0.
My opponent changes his formation each match according to who he is playing against.
Now he changed the match time to 03:00...

7 is not the limit. i had 8 injured players once!

I have a semi-final match against an all scout team (Average 34 while I am 28) playing regular 4-4-2.
The match is away and the dude delayed it to 02:00 AM.

I am not losing almost any games except to a friend who is playing 4-2-2-2 with default settings.
We are same level and have approx same quality. Any suggestions on how to beat him?

Funny but I feel that since i posted this post the game tries to injure me even more.
Have 7 injured players though they get to each game at 100% and I have level 3 medic.

go for 3-1-4-2, or even more attacking with 3-1-2-2-2. down both flanks!
Attacking mentality if hes weaker then you, else normal. mixed passing.
