You'll pay less in wages if you wait until the next season to renew the contract. Remember, you must not assign any skill points during the season for this to work.

Not sure if I want to do well in the league or tank a second season, but definitely want to do well in Cup.

Best - Reaching Semi-Finals of the Cup only to draw 2-2 then lose 3-1 against a clearly stronger team. I had won many stronger teams along the way.
Worst - None except getting knocked out of Cup....
