Help on how to beat 3-1-4-1-1

I have checked the counter guide and it advises 4-1-2-1-2 ND however I have found when ever I play this formation following the guide I struggle against the opponent. My opponent is 2 quality better than me, most of his starting 11 are scout. Any suggestions would be great, I will post results

use Formation: 5-4-1 (5xD-2xMC-2xAML/R-1xST).
Because: the AML/R perfectly fill the gaps between his defence and midfield.
the DL/R fill the gaps on his forewings.

use Tactic: Normal - Both Wings - Own Half - Normal - Mixed (if MC's have good offensive skills) OR Long (if MC's have bad offensive skills/better defensive skills) - Zonal - Counter: Yes - Offside: No

Sadly my game was before this, I played ND and got smashed 4-0 at home. Next time I'll try that
