Increasing Competition (Board of Directors+More)

The whole point of this thread is to encourage competition and to also try and make tanking obsolete (Also because I think this would add nice new depth to the game). I have two ideas but the main one revolves around a concept I'm calling "The Board of Directors". This is a group of shareholders responsible for assessing your managerial skills and rewarding you at the end of the season for your accomplishments according to their degree.

An idea of how this would work:

At the start of every new season, you are neutral with the Board, there are things you can do to gain their liking, and appropraitely there are also things you can do to make them reconsider.

Here are a couple of details of the things that can get the Board with you or against you.

Things to do to win over the Board in each competition.

League:
Win a game (+2 points)
Finish in the top 8 (+10 points)
Finish in the top 4 (+20 points)
Win the league (+30 points)
(Note: points from positional status don't accumulate. Eg: Winning the league gives you only 30 points, not 60)


Cup:
Advance to the next round (+2 points)
Reach the final (+1 point)
Win the Cup (+5 points)

Champions/Super:
Winning a game in the group stage (+1 point)
First in the group (+2 points)
Second in the group (+1 point)
Advance to the next round (+2 points)
Reach the final (+1 point)
Win (+5 points)

Additional:
Win the treble (+10 points)
Sign a new player (+2 points)
Sign a scout (+3 points)
Successfully auction a player for higher than his market value (+3 points) (But first you have to fix the auction system so managers can auction to each other)

Adverse effects that make you lose favour with the Board.

Lose a game or round in any competition (-1)
Sack players (-2)
Finish in the bottom 6 (-15)



During the season your points don't give you anything. It's at the end when you as a manager cash-in on your accomplishments. Basically, your total amount of points will put you in a certain category of how the Board feels about you; during the season you can view where you are on this spectrum.

Here's what it would be like:

(<0) Abysmal. Manager sacked and account floats till recovered at level 1.
(0-30) TBD/Content +Nothing
(>30 points) Satisfactory +6 packs (2 of each.. ect)
(>45 points) Good +15 packs
(>60 points) Well-done +30 packs
(>75 points) Outstanding +60 packs
(>90 points) Brilliant +90 packs
(>105 points) Legendary +120 packs
(>120 points) Phenomenal +150 packs

While some of the rewards might seem over the top, by my calculations (simple arithmetic, might not be accurate), most players will get between 45 and 90 points. Only really good managers should dream about getting above 90. Above 120 is about nearly impossible. I also feel it's necessary to provide better than good rewards because players really should feel the desire to win, and that's necessary for healthy competition in this game.

I don't include Associations in this at all simply because it's not level relative and points should be attributed to individual managers and not group efforts.



My second idea is quite simpler.
Clubs who get promoted should have some of their top players remain at the same star level. I know the reasoning is that the higher tier leagues have better quality clubs so that's why quality relative to level decreases but my reasoning is that for example the winner of the Championship in England isn't of lower relative quality to half of the clubs in the Premier League, atleast not the entire squad of players. So here's the idea I want to push.

If you come first in the league, your 3 best performing players of the season get their absolute quality improved by a group of specialised trainers and coaches. So in retrospect, these 3 players will lose a star but then gain it again.

This can also be for clubs who finish in the top 4 (2 best performing players) and for the top 8 (only one).

The reasoning again is to not make clubs afraid of promotion.
