cup semi-final match
so I have a semi-final match against a tougher opponent at home tmrw. since its a home game for the first leg, I wanna play defensively and limit their away goals as much as possible, then get rowdy on offense in the away match. this a good idea? also I've never played against a 4-1-3w-1(centered amc)-1. how would that be countered? I have a 5-1-2-2 set up right now.

4-1-3W-2?
Or even 4-5-1V
I wouldn't play defensively unless he's higher Q, play normal, because if you get a goal or two at home, chances are you'll only need to nick one away :)

his quality is 23.5 and mine is 20.8.
haha im not used to playing better teams.

As long as you counter his AMC and 2 wide players you'll be fine, he's only playing 1ST, so go 4 at the back. (DR and DL) they'll sort out his wingers, 2 in MC will dominate his single MC.
His DMC is abit worthless unless he's using arrows, so lets assume he isnt.
4-5-1V should be perfect against that.
I've beaten 4/5 quality higher teams with that formation and 4-5-1 V
Pass down the flanks.
It's only a counter formation though, you know what the Game Engine is like these days. :)

haha yeah you cant trust the game engine.. but yeah the 4-5-1V served me well in the past 3 matches so i'll stick with it I suppose. thanks!

3-1-4-2
blue arrow on your dmc, mixed passing, mixed mentality, full pitch, zonal.
He'll most probably suffer possession having only one ST on the field, so if your dmc manages to stop his amc you'd be pretty much set.
