i would much rather spend 40 green packs to ensure my squad is ready for doubleheaders then to improve a 3* player

try to have a 20 player squad and you will never have problem with doble header. 2 match in a row not something too difficults, NEVER train a player which isn't fast trainner and use him in friendly match, you can play 2 competitive match, 2 friendly match in a row without a probleme,
in my experience, player star for match with 80 % condition is enough, as good as 99%, only the one less than 70 shouldn't play more than 60 minutes
and this one can stay with you 5 season, with at least 4* player. why not him ?
