Which way are my team facing compared to the other team?

If I want a player to go up against another player like ML, do I use an ML, or an MR? I'm not sure if the game faces the other way against the other team.
In real life of course we face the other way, but computer games are made by anybody. Some programmers decide to keep it simple so that ML challenges ML.
I just noticed that my opponent today has a DC in an ML position, so I want to take advantage of it.
Thanks!

ML vs. MR, opposite directions - you can see that in the "Formations" view while watching a match.
