ROYAL RUMBLE CUP - 1ST ROUND, 1ST LEG
PIPPO FC 3-0 July Fourth
PIPPO FC 134.1 4-2DMC-3WAM-2 - July Fourth 126.6 4-1-3-1-1 1st half, 3W-1-4-1-1 2nd half.
What can you do against a team that is 4 levels above you and 7.5Q better with a manager that is highly active with a supporter, not a lot in all honesty, but lets be honest PIPPO were always likely to win this game and July Fourth did okay, We were always backs to the walls defending with the odd attack in which we found it difficult to score... They had a 9* star striker McLoughlin who was taking the free-kicks and after a rather balanced start Miku gave away a free-kick and allowed the striker to take full advantage and send PIPPO into the lead, There was more defending to do Rey-Alonso shot was blocked before Watson had a shot saved from the keeper, McLoughlin had another free-kick but Knight saved it this time. PIPPO did manage to get the ball behind the defence but squanded the oppotunities to extend the lead before HT, The second half was a carbon copy of the first half, PIPPO always threatening with Mantovani and Rey-Alonso giving our defenders a hard time as we threw bodies in the way, PIPPO did eventually win a corner and Kommanee crossed in for Mantovani's head for 2-0, July Fourth were barely hanging onto faint hopes at this stage although they did have a great chance to get an away goal with Miku getting a shot on target and forcing a corner and Stuart crossed in but it was headed away, We were not without the NGE Troll right at the end, Michu got injured and straight away a Mantovani long range strike had beaten Knight for 3-0 and this just about ends the tie.
Goals: McLoughlin (14) Mantovani (61,88) MOTM: Mantovani
Team Talk: We would of held our heads high had we fought out a 2-0 defeat or had we scored late on, but the last minute goal for us was a killer and we felt we didn't deserve that. We can have a crack at trying to beat them at home but it will still be a tall order. If we could of got our power training programme done before we faced a team like this then we would of given them a good game. Overall... It wasn't a bad result or a good result for us, it was an expected result given the higher quality and experience of our opponents.
I like to think that poor shots to shots on target ratio means that your players didn't have enough space and resorted to shooting from distance. But I think in the 2nd leg, you'll have to really go for it... You could play 3N-1-4-1-1 with mixed passing, that would cover your flanks a bit better. Red arows on ML/MR
