Token youth players - how to assess them...

this is my first post on the forums. I've read around the forum a lot, wish I'd have done it earlier...would've probably not been league runner-up five times in the pat 7 seasons (did manage to come in first place twice though).
Nevertheless I haven't been able to find much info on token youth players.
Today for example I have "bought" this 21-token youth player. A 47 strong (4*) GK worth 10.4 million. I'd gladly keep him but both my goalies are above 5* and 50+ strengthwise and quite young (19 and 22). I'm still in a dilemma though - could it possibly be worth keeping him trying to train him so he gets past that 22 year old 53-experience point goalkeeper? And by that I mean not spending tokens on him. My team's average strength is 50.3 (including him and the free youth player who's getting sold) so he is nominally the worst player.
Also: is it possible to get a 5* youth player from the football school (that's what I have ATM)? I don't remember if I ever got one, but I do have a ST on the team who has come from the youth about 5 seasons ago and he has kept up all this time (he'll have to go next year though, he is starting to lag behind).
Do U-21-building upgrades also increase the value of the youth players or just the time it takes for them to appear?
Any other info on the youth players that you might find important would also be appreciated. Thanks.
