    How did he win?

In the screenshots, you can see that the guy has won friendly match despite my big advantage in player quality. So I wonder, was it due to possession bonus, or his odd formation, or just luck?

As a little background, he apparently befriended me in order to help his friend, so this friendly match with me before the important game with his friend (much stronger than his own team) was his help. I won the important one anyways. But I wonder how he won this one, and from this angle his formation looks especially intriguing.

How the hell did that guy win? The formation of his team is illegal but he still has 43% possession. You used a legal formation so I don't know why he doesn't have 20% possession and how he managed to win the game. This is weird.

That's a stumper! His formation is illegal, and even for that it's terrible! Seems like he hasnt a clue, yet whatever happened, the engine didn't read it as illegal and gave him the extra 13% possession. Are illegal forms out the window now or what?

I'd certainly be dropping him from my contacts, unless you want him to keep setting up unwanted friendlies and risk injuring your players.

It's all luck, nothing more. Whether bad or good.

I do this sometimes, start with an illegal formation, then move the players around once the game starts, but it is not a tactic I recommend, as it is not really that successful.

Yep he probably switched position of his players right after the match started and played a legal formation.
The weirdest thing is that although he managed to win against such a better team, most of his players received very low ratings.

Your all players are double marked except the wingers..I think he used man-on-man marking..If you can't beat him just copy his formation at least you will draw

The winner definitely started with the illegal formation and changed it during the game. It is really the only explanation. That and he got lucky as 3-5-2 is a solid formation. Without being there to watch the game, you really cannot ever know, unless you look at the actual players and their positions, which we cannot do with screenshots.

The fact that you really outweighed him quality-wise, just means that its a normal unlucky NGE outcome...although I usually see this happen more often for visiting teams than home teams...
