    Change of season star issue

Please confirm that at the change it is only the star count that changes, not the players quality count.
A three star quality 15 and a three star quality 19 both become two stars but the 15 and 19 quality remain?

Are we concentrating toooo much on the stars and not the payers actual ability in defense, attack and strength?

It's just the star thats lost at the end of the season on promotion, not the players numerical quality value.

Confirmed. Only star level changes since it's relative to the level you are at. Quality is absolute, and hence not changed.

As mentioned earlier, star reflects how good your player is at certain level. So generally, players with higher stars tend to perform better.
The actual ability defense, attack and strength is still arguable. Assuming 2 defenders have the same quality. Some believes that a defender with better defense ability is better while some believes a well-balanced player is better. It's very hard to justify one or another. As a result of that, stars is still more reflective than quality. However, if you have a lower stars player with a good rating through many matches, he can be better than a higher star level whose rating is always low.

Thanks. Then it makes absolutely no difference at all.
What would be the purpose.... Other than to keep the star count to an acceptable level.

Stars are meaningless? It's what's under the bonnet that counts

Stars serve the purpose of measuring players quality that compares with your manager level, As you win promotion, players lose their stars because they are playing at a higher level.

    A 5* player at L2 would only be a 4* player at L3, a 3* player at L4 and a 2* player at L5.
