How to determine who's 3rd in Champions League / Cup

I am curious how to determine who's 3rd in Champions League and in Cup ? anyone knows ?

the two teams who dont make it to the final automatically tie for third and receive the trophy in both competitions.

sorry for my poor english , u meant both teams that did not make it to final will receieve the 3rd medal ?

Yes both losing Semi-Finalists are classed as 3rd place teams.
