When a player's contract runs out or when they are sacked they become a free agent. You just pay their wages and not their value

You'll see (F) next to price which indicates a free agent

Usually you get this on your phone. It just means their wage. They are still free though.

Does anyone know an answer to this?

I know that if you sack a player or don't sign them to a contract in 7 days, they become free agents. But what I wonder is: Can you bid for them in the transfer auction afterwards. I know that you can't bid in normal auctions for one of your own players, but as they are free agents, I was just wondering.

I think you can because I sacked a player once and thus he became a free agent. I then saw him on the transfers list a few minutes later lol. Either you can or I was seeing things.

yes you can. once i did that too. but it's not certain whether you'll see him on list since the list only shows some fractions of all available players for transfer (like nordeus say)

To answer your question - Yes you can
I once release a player w/o renewing his contract and later noted him listed in auction as (F)

However it doesn't make sense to sign him again.

The reason is that renewing his contract cost TE $ but bidding for him (though he is a free agent) cost Tokens.
    Unless you can equate US$ 1 = ......TE $
    1 T = ...... US$ ; and see if it worthwhile to bid again.
