Auto sub : Will this work

I have two games within 20 mins at daft o'clock, so I wont be able to watch.

The first (champions league final) has my best player on a red card.
The second 20 mins later a league game (one win and Im champs).

If I leave the red carded guy in there, will the auto-sub put another player on and then in the next game (where he isnt red carded) he will take his regular place ?

On an aside...the champs league final game is between me and another aussie (indeed my son) at 3am and neither of us can move the game...pfffffttt.....come on chaps either schedule finals based on local of both players or let one player suggest the time change (2 tokens) and the other can reject it (original gets their tokens back) or accept it (tokens are spent)....very pesky for those who dont live on the GMT line.
