formation that r not as good as before

i have notice over these last 3 or 4 seasons that formation i use to use are no way near as good as before. like 4-5-1v and narrow diamond are no longer good against 4-4-2. like last season i lost 2-1 to the bottom of our league he played 4-4-2 and me narrow diamond, his avg 72,3 and mine 78.9. i don't understand why it changed

if anyone found other formation that use to work please share.

I got a draw with a worst team in cup today using narrow diamond against 4-4-2. Not sure whether or not to switch to 4-5-1V or just match him with a 4-4-2 as well.

Edit:
I think 3-5-2 works since a bot beat me using it against my 4-4-2 last season. I'd give it a try if I had another MC
