Can a player inherit anothers spot mid season ?

ok this is abit weird so I thought i'd ask the question.

I played a league game today manager level 6 against a player i'd played last season in the champions league as well. he was from spain.

he was a higher stat player than me by some margin on our 2 encounters so far .. but after beating him today , all of a sudden there is a new player in his spot in league with same points , but from Germany with different name.

Did the guy quit and someone get auto promoted mid- season ?

For a few tokens you can change you nacionality and teams name.
But that does not make any sence.

So maybe someone have a better explanation.

He could have changed his manager details?

Or his team might have changed to being managed by a bot? (And the bot then changed the manager country etc)

Are his players still the same?


(It wouldn't be logical for a new player to join your league mid season, however I have no idea if it might be possible or not, both of the above are viable answers though I think).

It's just speculation but I think a person becomes a bot if they deactivate their account.. needs confirmation on that though.

looking at the goal scorers for him in the game we played , they don't exist anymore

also , ive joined mid-seaon at level 1 .. just seems odd at any higher level

But it would say bot when you look at them. And this seems a real player photo and everything . which isn't the same guy
