Picking team to play

Do you pick a player , based on quality for the available position or is there another method that you use?

With three team formats coming up (league, CL, Cup), how to you select for the first few games or days?

I have only started noticing the three ratings and must say, I have never relied on them as yet but do intend to use them for the first week.

I normally start with the same Team that ended the season, then i start to slowly introduce better players in the Team to see How they manage.
Play friendlies to test New players, or players in other positions.

Thanks Dman2pt! But for us that can only use normal recovery inbetwn training and two games a day, are there certain players that play well in league and those who play better in cup, or certain cup formats? I have noticed players get a better work rate in the different formats.
Am I reading or expecting too much in this?
