Auctions are definitely the best value, but they're also the most uncertain, you could get the same players as negotiations for just 1 token at a fraction of their price, or you might have to go to over 100 rounds and pay several times their market value.
You can get pretty good players on negotiations, but it depends on how greedy the manager is.
Scouts are the most certain ones, you're sure to pay 50 tokens and some cash, so pick good players, higher value and quality, and lower age.
For me, I only go for auctions, I need about 21 players a season on a budget of 35 tokens a season, and I always get them too. I am very selective with my bids.
Great advice, thank you!
No problem. Not really advice, though, just a reasonably thorough analysis of the three. :)
Haha it was what I needed! Wasn't sure what was the best way to go. I'm level 4 now and so far got away with easily buying players from Auction, but as I go higher in level now its becoming more and more competitive for players!
I'm level 15 this season, I've always been going for auctions and I manage to get what I need every season. Some seasons I manage to save some tokens for the coming seasons too. :) I'm Asian, though, so timing is good for me to get some players early in the T11 day.
I agree with Potemy, auctions are the best thing but really uncertain, this season i baught players only with "negotiations" because there are only good players there and not so many bidders. The scout area it's verry good but really expensive. :) Good luck.
Lol I am English too and I start work really early (4am) so I have that little advantage of it being quiet.
Are scout players really worth it for 50 tokens though??
Yes, seriously, i baught this season 1 player from scout and i'm very satisfied, plays really good and it grows very fast, here i post some stats:

Hmm, suppose I'll just have to weigh it up then, see what happens!
I think the easyest way to have a 6 stars first team team is to buy them from negotiations:P that if you have tokens if not surely you must buy them from auction
IMO any scout aged 22, ending in a 9 is well worth the 50 tokens.
At least two seasons before he hits 5*.
Not too bothered about the money. Its the oh so precious tokens, just don't want to waste them!
Scouts, if they are within 10 skill points of world class quality and are aged 22 and are versatile with a good SA then it's definitely worth investing in them. I bought a scout last season, 22y/o -AMC/AMR -Corner Specialist, he was 6*(34) and at the end of the season was an 8*(40) player. Now he's 7*(41) and will probably be 6*(44) in the 3rd season, 6*(46) in the 4th season, 5*(47) in the 5th season. In the sixth season since buying him, he will still be in my squad but as a 4* reserve player (and in my hall of fame because he's amazing). So investing in a good, young scout who is close to world class quality is definitely worth the 50 tokens as you can keep him for many seasons!
Now, as for auctions. It really depends how much you are willing to go for some players. I tend to buy 5* youngsters from the auction list as they train fast and will be 6* players within a few days. If I wanted a 5* 30+ year old player who I'm going to ditch at the end of the season, I'll probably only be prepared to buy him for 2-3 tokens. Buying players who are close to scout quality is definitely what you're aiming for. You can also use their ages as a guide for how much to spend on them. Personally, I'd only bid over 15 tokens on a player if he's 18-21, a fast trainer and very close to the next star quality (SA helps too). Through natural growth and training, he could stay for 2-3 seasons. But for a lot of players, I would not spend more than 7 tokens on a player that you're only going to keep for one season and then end up benching him next season, it's a waste and you can invest in players who can stay for longer. If you're really lucky you can get players for 1 or 2 tokens, depending on the time of day... Do this and you've found yourself a bargain.
And I know nothing about negotiations so I can't help there, sorry!
Bro, don't agree with your 2nd paragraph...depends on how "greedy". I posted a thread earlier to advise potential bidder to analyse the team of the Seller. Player may be a key player who was just rested or red carded. Another possible reason is the business sense. If I have just bought the player for 10T in auction, I will not sell him for 7T if I had hardly use him.
For Scouts, last season I bought a 6 star ST and 6 star MC. Both turn up performance ranging from 4 to 6 !! I was patient with them (no choice having spend 50T on each) and played them against weaker teams to gain confidence. True enough this season they are turning up 7 to 9 performance.
Auction vs Scouts....
Hmmm.... I'm a scout buyer normally, mainly because I like a high quality side and normally get to work with a lot of tokens from videos in the past historically, Theres been seasons where I have earned 400 tokens which means in turn I can buy quite a lot of scouts, Until recently, I had a squad rota and normally would replace my 4 worst players which would be around 4* with 4 youngish scouts 22-24 years old with ratings that end in 4 or 9 if I can. A scout player on the younger 22-24 and qualitys that end in 4 or 9, would get at least 4 seasons at my club, when you do the maths, it works out at 12.5T per season, which isn't bad when you buy 5* for auctions for around that cost and they would of got 1-2 seasons before being replaced by better players, which in turn given the starting quality of scouts it makes them slightly better value than buying 5* players from the market and it knocks out the uncertainty of getting involved in an unwanted bidding war which could drain your tokens and money.
As for negotations, well most bids would get rejected from managers since they are most likely to be players that managers don't want to sell and if you do get a bid accepted, you probably could buy a scout player for just a dozen more tokens or so.
I've bolded part of your post which I don't understand how it relates to the topic of manager greed at all, though it does present the question: Do players not appear on the negotiations list if they are in the starting eleven?
Besides that, your way of thinking comes across as greed to me. Firstly, of course we won't sell the player if we still need them, so now the focus shifts to players we don't need. I'm happy to settle for just a token or two from negotiations. If I were to sell them on auctions, I would just get money and no tokens, so any tokens on negotiations can be seen as a bonus, the money is not as important for me.
The best is auction but depend now, it can be the worst too, you can lose everything but you can get 10 good players for 20-30 tokens.
depends on the server. my server is always busy any time of the day. i know this because when i was addicted to this game some seasons earlier, i would check auction in the morning, afternoon, evening and sometimes even past midnight if i suddenly wake up in the middle of the night. you can also get lucky. auction is very unpredictable in my server. a few times, auction ends after ko rounds 1 - 5 only. sometimes, it can reach more than 50 rounds. the players need not even be high end to start a bidding war. just have 2 managers who do not want to throw tokens away for nothing. normal is around 10-20 tokens. but for high end 5 star, normal is 15-30 tokens. so i agree with accyrover, high end 6 star scout is good value for your tokens. but i also don't disagree with potemy. if you can get a full squad for 35 tokens, i would go for it.
