You aren't the first person I have heard complain about the new system. I haven't had much luck with it myself. I have had countless troubles trying to trade or sell players, even when these players are great. I have also had a ton of trouble trying to find new players for my team. I have already spent hours waiting and watching for the right players, and I don't remember how many times I ultimately left empty handed. I would like to see them bring back some of the advantages of the old system with some of the new system. We can hope can't we.
